Join us for a hike in the footsteps of the first known inhabitants of Alta. This fantastic city-based hike explores the Komsa culture, the roots of Alta's UNESCO World Heritage site. We will walk up to the top of Komsa, one of Alta's most popular peaks, and for good reason. Here, you can enjoy a beautiful view over the city of Alta, the Altafjord, and the surrounding mountains. On this trip, with our knowledgeable guide, you will explore a unique area of Alta. The tour is 1.5 km each way, with an elevation gain of 150 meters. It takes about 1 hour to reach the top of Komsa and 1 hour to return. You will learn about the Komsa culture, an archaeological culture from the Old Stone Age first identified in Alta. The culture is named after the Komsa mountain. The first archaeological discoveries of this culture were made in the early 1920s, and we are still learning more about this culture, which dates back to 10,000-6,000 BC. Back in the city, you will have had a fantastic nature experience and gained knowledge about the Komsa culture, the everyday life of modern Alta, and the surrounding nature. We recommend this trip for those with some hiking experience. Most of the hike is on single-track trails with a combination of gravel, sand, soil, rocks, and roots. Bring: Hiking shoes, mittens, hat, and scarf. Transport is included both ways.

The team is so helpful and they really take care to make it a good stay, very personal and considering. Like visiting friends y...
