Dog Sledding Adventure

Take the reins and discover parts of the Arctic landscape you would otherwise miss on this small-group dog sledding tour from Alta. A comfortable minibus takes you from Alta to the picturesque Gargia Valley (approx. 30 minutes), where you are kitted out with warm clothing before meeting the guides and the huskies. Our experienced guides give you thorough, one-on-one training before you take charge of your own team of huskies. If you are two guests on a sled, you take turns driving halfway along the route each. The dogs lead you through the pine forest near the mountain lodge and across the frozen landscape of the valley – feel the synergy between you and these enthusiastic huskies. After approximately 60 minutes outdoors, retreat to the historic Gargia mountain lodge. Here you can warm up with lunch, hot coffee and toddy. Our guides will share insights about dog sledding and local history. Good to know: Minimum age to participate is 8, and minimum age to drive alone is 16 – children under 16 must be accompanied by an adult. A moderate level of fitness is required. The tour is not recommended for travellers with back problems, heart problems or other serious medical conditions, or for pregnant travellers. Not wheelchair accessible. A minimum of 2 participants is required for the tour to run.
