ATV Safari – Finnmarksvidda

Feel the freedom of a four-wheel ATV beneath you as you head out of Gargia Lodge and into the heart of arctic wilderness along the old post route from the North to the South. The trail climbs steadily through silver birch forests and along river valleys carved by snowmelt, revealing new layers of the landscape with every kilometre. The Finnmarksvidda – Europe's largest mountain plateau – waits above, vast and almost mythically quiet. As the treeline thins and the horizon opens, you burst onto the plateau proper. An endless ocean of tundra stretches in every direction: dwarf willow, lichens, and the occasional flash of a reindeer herd drifting across the emptiness. Your guide stops the convoy at a ridge-top viewpoint where the silence is absolute save for the wind, and explains how Sámi nomads live and how the old post route was built. The return route swings through terrain that rewards beautiful scenery with the alpine mountains at the coast in the horizon. Back at Gargia Lodge, warm beverages and snacks are waiting.
